Abstract

Abstract. The assessment of fibrosis markers (myocardial matrix metalloproteinase-9 (MMP-9) and tissue metalloproteinase-1 inhibitor (TIMP-1)) remains unexplored in patients with acute coronary syndrome with ST segment elevation (STEMI) depending on age.

Objective. To assess the levels of markers of myocardial fibrosis (MMP-9, TIMP-1) in patients with STEMI in different age groups.

Materials and methods. 162 people were included, including 132 patients with STEMI (48 middle-aged people, 44 elderly, 40 senile and 30 middle-aged control group people). Determination of the concentration of TIMP-1 and MMP-9 was carried out by the ELISA method.

Results. It was revealed that MMP-9 in the development of STEMI in elderly patients is 55.8% (p=0.0009) higher than in elderly patients and 71.4% (p=0.004) higher than in middle-aged patients. It was found that at the time of the manifestation of STEMI, the concentration of TIMP-1 correlated with systolic and diastolic blood pressure (p=0.045 r=0.303), (p=0.048, r=0.314).
