The paper introduces an analysis of the pilot’s role in good communication, coordination and cooperation with the Master/Bridge Team in order to ensure the safety of a ship being piloted to the berth. The Bridge Resource Management training for pilots is considered as a way of preventing accidents involving ships under pilotage.
