SHOTCRETE AS A METHOD OF STRENGTHENING UNDERGROUND REINFORCED CONCRETE STRUCTURES

Abstract

The use of shotcrete as a method of strengthening the ceiling structures above the basement is considered on the example of a one-story Soviet building in the city of Rostov-on-don. This method of restoring structures is used when the geometry of structures suits, but it is necessary to restore the integrity of concrete (restoration work), since the aggressive influence of moisture leads to corrosion of the surface layer of concrete. Despite the high cost of the method, the density of shotcrete is much higher than that of conventional concrete, since it is supplied under pressure. Due to the high density, we get increased values of water resistance and frost resistance. In conditions where there is alternating freezing and thawing, shotcrete performs better than conventional concrete. The advantage of the method is also a formless method of operation and relatively low material consumption, since the thickness of the shotcrete layer is several millimeters.
